It’s just a Game.

Hello Everyone,

After today I’m pretty sure that I got the holiday feeling.
I played Tetris for 1 hour.
I really really did.
And, to be honest with you, it didn’t bore me in any way.
So Tetris.. what is it about that game?

Tetris is a game, as you already should know by now.
It is a computer/puzzle game made by some Russian guy
named Alexey Pajinov.
He designed this game on the 6th of July 1984,
long long time ago, I know right.
Tetris became a classic came over the years.
This is due to the fact that the Tetris game was given away
by “Game Boy” (from Nintendo) in 1989.
Since then Tetris is played by almost every person on the world.. that knows what a computer is.

The name Tetris comes for the Greek word “tetra” which means “four”.
This corresponds with the blocks of the game, who, how obvious, are made out of four pieces.
These blocks have the name “tetronimoes” and are shaped in different forms.
You have: “L”, “J”, “I”, “O”, “T”, “S” and “Z”.
Like in they mirror the “L”, the “Z” and they
can’t mirror the “O” (which is just a square really) nor the “I” or the “T”.
And the whole point behind them mirroring them:
To make it a bit less easier, or better said, to make it harder.

Because, after that one hour of seeing “tetronimoes”
fall down you really start to figure out that Tetris really isn’t that easy after all.
Which makes it really funny when you fail, because you will go like:
But this is Tetris! I can’t fail in Tetris!
And you obviously try again just to be able to… indeed:
Prove them wrong!
The speed goes up every time, just a little,
so you wont notice, though everyone knows it happens…
Yes we do know, big surprise isn’t it?

And I will spare you the
“Tetris didn’t have a clue about how gravity worked”
talk, because after all: It is just a game, no gravity needed.

And I will also spare you all the colours of the Tetris pieces
through the different years and editions.
If you want to know that, play your own Tetris
and write the colours down, or google it.
You will find it.. trust me you will.

So, that is it about Tetris,
a classic and so easy game that can get so hard
and where you don’t allow yourself to fail,
because it is Tetris.
But we all have to remember,
like with every game:

It’s just a game…

I’ve played tetris, tho not that much, but it’s fun, idk if you ever tried to play 2 persons online, but it’s kinda amazing 😛
and, yeah, it’s really a simple game, but that’s what kinda makes it classic, the idea is really simple, you get blocks, try to put them in a way that they don’t hit the top.
i’m not that good at it tho xD
    but i try, that’s something i guess 😛

      Hey,
Ha! Good, also a tetris player :P.
And I agree, it can be fun, but yea.. it kinda wears off after a while I guess.
Tho tetris with 2 players.. no.. never done that before.
And indeed, a simple classic game with blocks.
After all it isn’t about being good at something, it’s about having fun and not giving up is a nice characteristic. 🙂
Hmmm.. I do have to try those 2 players now…
      Thanks for the idea :).
      Greetz, MMasing.
